Dr. Irina Zaidman
Attending Physician, Pediatric Hematology & Oncology
Specialization: Dr. Zaidman is an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Department at Ruth Children’s Hospital, Rambam Health Care Campus. She is also Head of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the children’s hospital.
Education: Dr. Zaidman graduated, received her PhD in medicine, and completed her pediatric residency at the Medical University Pediatric Faculty in Russia. She immigrated to Israel in 1998, and was certified as a physician in Israel the following year. Dr. Zaidman completed her pediatric residency in the Department of Pediatrics at Rambam from 1999 to 2002, and had a fellowship in pediatric hemato-oncology at Rambam from 2003 to 2005.
Clinical Experience: Following the completion of her fellowship, Dr. Zaidman remained in the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Department as an Attending Physician, working primarily with BMT patients. In 2008, Dr. Zaidman underwent a second fellowship in pediatric BMT at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. Since 2009, she has been the head of the Pediatric BMT Unit in the Pediatric Hemato-Oncological Department. Thanks to Dr. Zaidman, the unit has received international attention for its achievements, with over 200 transplantations successfully performed on pediatric patients with both malignant and non-malignant diseases.
Professional Activity: Dr. Zaidman is on the board of the Israeli Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Society (ISPHO). She is very active in the international BMT community, and is a member of both the European BMT and the American BMT societies.
Social Activity: Dr. Zaidman teaches BMT and pediatric hematology-oncology to students, nurses, and physicians at Rambam, throughout Israel, and in various other countries. She has had several articles published in the field of pediatric bone marrow transplantationsPublications in PubMed
