Prof. Hever Menashe Zaarour, MD, DSc
Specialization: Prof. Zaarour is the Director of the Neurosurgery Department at the Rambam Medical Center, as well as a member of the Technion Faculty of Medicine.
Education: Prof. Zaarour graduated with Honors from the Technion Medical School. He also received an additional degree in Science from the Technion.
He has been trained in neurosurgery at the Rambam Medical Center. In addition, he has studied neurosurgery and neurophysiology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in the United States, as well as in Germany and England.
Clinical Experience: Prof. Zaarour has performed thousands of surgeries and is considered an expert in the field of benign and malignant brain tumors, spine and spinal cord diseases, skull base tumors, pituitary gland tumors, and hydrocephalus. He is respected as a leader in the treatment of head injuries and is regarded as one of the pioneers of intensive care in Israel. Prof. Zaarour further specializes in the treatment of movement disorders and the implantation of pacemakers for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (DBS). He is well-known in the medical arena as a world leader in the area of surgical treatments, utilizing a concentrated ultrasound MRI, in patients suffering from primary or secondary tremors of Parkinson's.
Research and Academic Activities: Prof. Zaarour has conducted extensive research in the fields of head injuries, the immunology of brain cancer, medical robotics of the nervous system, and evoked potentials and electrophysiology of the nervous system.Publications in PubMed
